Powell Peralta is an American skateboard company founded by George Powell and Stacy Peralta in 1978. The company rose to prominence in the 1980s as skateboarding began maturing as a sport. The company featured the Bones Brigade, a team featuring the era’s top competitors. Arguably the most iconic skateboard graphic of all time, “The Ripper” was illustrated in 1983 by legendary Powell-Peralta artist V.C. Johnson. Originally the graphic was used as a “Bones Sold Here” dealer window sticker. Next, the artwork found it’s way onto t-shirts and eventually decks.
